Received this e-mail today from U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich (D. NM) in support of Rep. Tammy Duckworth’s (D. IL) U.S. Senate campaign:
Rep. Tammy Duckworth (D. IL)
On Tuesday, Tammy Duckworth became the official Democratic nominee to represent Illinois in the U.S. Senate.
Tammy’s campaign just launched a 72-hour fundraising push to kick off the general election with a demonstration of strong grassroots support, and she needs our help.
The Washington Post recently released a new set of Senate race rankings, naming Illinois the Senate seat “most likely to flip parties in November.”
This is a must-win race for Democrats, but it won’t be easy. Just last week, the National Republican Senatorial Committee tastelessly attacked Tammy for not “standing up” for Veterans.
Tammy Duckworth lost her legs when her Black Hawk helicopter was shot down in Iraq. She’s been standing up for Veterans and working families ever since - on her camouflage and star-spangled titanium legs.
Let’s send her to the U.S. Senate to keep fighting for all of us,
Martin Heinrich
