I was visiting friends in Portland, Oregon over Memorial Day weekend so I am playing catch up with some e-mails. Over the weekend, I received this e-mail from the Council for a Livable World in support of U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich’s (D. NM) re-election campaign:

During my time in the U.S. House of Representatives, I was fortunate enough to serve with MartinHeinrich (D-NM). He was a fantastic Member – sharp, hardworking, and serving for all the right reasons.

When he ran for the U.S. Senate in 2012, Council for a Livable World endorsed him because of his superb commitment to arms control treaties like New START and his support for programs that protect us all from nuclear terror attacks.

Martin won that election in 2012 by a close margin, and now he’s running for re-election in 2018.

Will you donate $5 to support Senator Heinrich’s re-election? Winning this seat will be critical for advancing progressive national security.

In his first term, Martin has proved to be a thoughtful and progressive leader on national security issues. He is a firm supporter of the Iran nuclear deal. He’s also a strong advocate for U.S. ratification of the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty, which would make the entire world safer by banning explosive nuclear weapons tests. President Clinton signed the treaty in 1996, but the Senate has yet to approve it.

Senator Heinrich will face stiff competition in 2018, and we need his progressive national security leadership in the Senate. Will you donate $5 to his campaign today?

Thank you for supporting this outstanding candidate.

Sincerely,

John Tierney
Executive Director
Council for a Livable World
Member of Congress (former) 01/03/1997-01/03/2015
